YJuggle

BYU’s juggling club does more than just juggle, the club has given significant help to the Provo community through service.

“What a lot of people don’t realize is that the purpose of the club is to help people around us,” said Philip Roberts, a sophomore majoring in biology from Houston, Texas. He is the current vice-president of YJuggle and has been a member for two years.

In this past year YJuggle has volunteered at local fairs, elementary schools, retirement homes and many BYU events – including the homecoming parade and Friday Night Live.

“It’s great to get involved in a fun way,” said Lauren Fry, a senior majoring in economics from Provo, Utah. “I had never known how to get involved, and when I learned that there was a juggling club I knew that was for me.”

Fry specialized in contact juggling, which is a type of juggling done with a large glass ball where it looks like the ball never moves. She says it is a major hit at the elementary school she volunteers at weekly.

Many of the members volunteer their skills individually throughout the community, and the club meets every Tuesday night to practice and learn new tricks.

Recently YJuggle came together to perform for a BYU volleyball game half-time show.

Dusty White, a sophomore from Redmond, Wash. majoring in economics attended the game. “I was impressed by the amount of things they did in the three-minute show. They juggled rings, pins and volleyballs.”

White said the highlight of the show was when they passed pins over the volleyball net.
